Over the decades, I have experimented with many diets on the quest for my idea of the perfect body.  Through my journey of a hundred diets, I discovered that there is no perfect diet, there is no perfect body, and there is only one perfect you.  (unique)

I have learned how to nourish my body with what it needs to feel good and strong. I stopped stressing over how many calories I consumed and starting eating well-balanced meals that fuel my body each day.  I began to listen to what my body was telling me.

Diet fads will come and go, often ending with frustration and disappointment. Diets simply aren’t sustainable in the long run.  Focusing on only one part of the body, like your weight, can lead to unbalanced health.

But how do you find balance?

STRESS-LESS

  • Relax at the end of the day by taking a warm bath.
  • Practice breathing Exercises.
  • Devote time weekly to doing something you enjoy.
  • Make self-care a priority!
  • Pray and Meditate.

MOVE

  • Find something you enjoy.
  • Take a walk outside.
  • Try out a class.
  • Park further away from the store.
  • Find a workout partner.
  • Make it a daily habit to stand up and move at least every 2 hours.

EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING

  • Keep a daily journal of gratitude and accomplishments.
  • Challenge yourself and take risks.
  • Get outside of the box.
  • Push out the negative and focus on the positive things in life.
  • Live in the present and forgive the past.
  • Assess how you are feeling and why.
  • Do something that makes you laugh (a lot).
  • Love unconditionally.

SLEEP

  • Expose yourself to bright light during the day.
  • Wear blue light blocking glasses in the evenings
  • Don’t consume caffeine 6 hours before bed.
  • Wake and go to bed at the same times.
  •  Supplement with low dose melatonin.
  • Set temperature below 68 degrees.
  • Keep the room very dark.

NUTRITION

  • Avoid processed foods.
  • Limit meat.
  • Snack on seeds and nuts.
  • Eat lots of fruits and veggies.
  • Replace sugar with honey or maple syrup.
  • Drink 6-8 cups of water daily.
  • Include healthy fats like olive oil and avocado oil.
  • Drink green tea.

These are just a few tips to start developing healthier habits and stop focusing on what you read on the scale. Time to dump that outdated, old school scale and start enjoying life!
